Basic tests on substrates

In the basic range of substrate testing, we offer determinations of the following physicochemical parameters:

• pH
• dry matter
• dry organic matter
• Kejdahl nitrogen and ammoniacal nitrogen

In cases where fat is expected in the substrate due to its origin, we recommend determining the ether extract. Based on the above data, a preliminary technological assessment of the suitability of the substrate for biogas production can be carried out. For waste materials which may potentially contain contaminants in the form of chemicals (detergents, disinfectants, etc.), we additionally recommend testing the methane potential of the substrate. In addition to accurately determining the energy value of a given raw material, such a test will also determine whether it contains substances which inhibit the methane fermentation process.
