Microbiological testing of digestate
For digestate to be used as an organic fertiliser or soil improver, microbiological tests must be carried out, including the presence of:
- Salmonella bacteria
- live eggs of the parasites Ascaris sp., Trichuris sp., Toxocara sp. – (ATT)
If digestate is produced from animal by-products, tests must also be carried out to determine the count of E. coli or Enterobacteriaceae.
